Recent Findings (and a few decades of experience) clearly show that very few directors are seldom TRUE nursing advocates (They may try and believe that they care, BUT). Again a Bottom-Line Feeder...
Anyone out there truly feel that Nursing Advocacy is promoted in their profession?
Is it so wrong to expect that nursing advocacy BE a part of Nursing's Future?
Why is there not a department or position already in place at every facility with such a designation? (Feeling like Don Quixote now, tilting at impossible windmills)
Nursing Advocacy should not just be a dream. Nurses so deserve someone advocating for them in the workplace...Someone who puts their workplace situations, stresses, satisfaction, and yes even their license in high priority. This should alway be part of the decision making process in changes, procedures, staffing, and any function where nursing is involved.
Let me say NURSING ADVOCACY is needed when the nursing shortage is still a serious factor in the future. The Baby boomer nurses will still be retiring soon and still a serious factor in the older and sicker generations coming in the next 10+ years.
NURSING SATISFACTION MATTERS
